Melissa Rossi (book) is an author and journalist who has been published in a variety of magazines and newspapers, including Newsweek, Esquire, and Newsday. She is the author of the What Every American Should Know series. Bruce Scofield (introduction) is a professor of astronomy at University of Massachusetts and an expert in the Maya, astrology, metaphysics, and more. Melissa Rossi's What Every American Shoudl Know series did well over the first two titles WEASK the World and WEASK Who's Running the World which provided a big picture survey and touched on controversial subjects ranging from conspiracy theories to international politics. Her second book, WEASK Running America was largely redundant and didn't find a large audience. When she turned to geographically specific regiuons, Europe and the Middle East, the series declined dramatically, both form fatigue and lesser interest in issolated regions. In brief, Rossi found a siugnificant following for her research based reporting on big issues and conspiracy theories, but less when she turned to examining a specific region. 2012 falls more under the umbrella of the first books and, since it is a fresh subject and stands alone outside the series, it should find unique success.
