This is a handsome desk and pocket diary inspired by the illustrations of renowned fellwalker, author and artist, A. Wainwright. The illustrations in the desk diary and pocket diary for 2008 are ink drawings of landscapes in England, Scotland and Wales taken from Wainwright's sketchbooks. The pocket diary, small enough to stuff into a pocket or rucksack, has illustrations from his "Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells". Both diaries have a picture for every week of the year and contain national and religious holidays and astronomical information. This stationery, exclusive to Frances Lincoln, is a must for all lovers of Wainwright in particular or of the Great Outdoors in general. Born in Blackburn in 1907, Alfred Wainwright left school at the age of 13. A holiday at the age of 23 kindled a life-long love affair with the Lake District. Following a move to Kendal in 1941, Wainwright devoted every spare minute of his days to researching and compiling the original seven "Pictorial" guides.
