Teacher and student access to technology in both schools and at home continues to rise. Due to this increase, there is a need to examine how technology is supporting teaching and learning in STEM classrooms from early childhood through college-level mathematics. To ensure it is utilized appropriately, further study on the use of technology in classrooms where students are learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics content is required.

Technology Integration and Transformation in STEM Classrooms offers meaningful and comprehensive examples of implementing technology to support STEM teaching and learning and provides a deeper understanding of how to ensure technology is used to enhance the learning environment. Miller teaches for the Early Childhood Program here at the University of South Carolina focusing on Science Education for young children. Her research investigates the integration of commercial technologies such as tablet computers and their use in the STEM classroom to support instructional objectives in authentic and meaningful ways. Her recent studies focused on the use of electronic notebooks on iPads for students with cognitive disabilities to access, communicate, and be assessed in STEM curriculum. Now this is expanding with the use of e-notebooks for younger students as they can scaffold and support students through science inquiry and engineering design processes.
