She led the development of the Social Work Apprenticeship at UCLan , the first programme to deliver the social work degree apprenticeship. Mary Shannon has a substantial background in social work and social care, as a practitioner and manager in both the children and adults sector. Currently Head of the Social Work and Social Welfare department ay Staffordshire University, she also oversees a regional social work apprentice qualifying programme.
