Challenges and Initiatives in Refugee Education

Aspasia Chatzidaki is Professor at the Department of Primary Education and the Director of the Centre for Intercultural and Migration Studies of the University of Crete. She has published extensively in both Greek and international journals, as well as collective volumes, on the sociolinguistic and educational aspects of bilingualism and the teaching of Greek as a second language. Her recent publications include Teaching Bilingual Children: Theoretical Issues and Pedagogical Approaches. Roula Tsokalidou is a Professor of Sociolinguistics and Language Teaching at the Department of Early Childhood Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is an experienced researcher in the area of language contact, bilingualism and translanguaging in Greece, and is the author of more than 100 publications. She is the coordinator of ‘Polydromo’ group for bilingualism and multiculturalism in education and society and the Director of the Confucius Institute at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
