Stephen Spawls has spent several decades in Africa, focusing on herpetology. His books include Reptiles and Amphibians of East Africa and Kenya: A Natural History. Bill Branch (1946–2018) was one of Africa’s most well-known herpetologists. His books include Field Guide to Snakes and Other Reptiles of Southern Africa and Tortoises, Terrapins, and Turtles of Africa.
