Dorland's Electronic Medical Dictionary

This CD-ROM presents the whole of 'Dorland's Illustrated Medical

Dictionary', 28th Edition in a computerized format. It provides instant

access to pronunciations, plural forms, etymologies and definitions, as

well as spellings.

The CD functions on both Windows and Macintosh hardware. It offers

search capabilities with a variety of ways to locate an entry, for

example, by phrase, wildcard or proximity. There is a facility to copy

and paste, add 'bookmarks' and 'notes', and print selected sections of

the text, in addition to links between entries and their official

medical subject headings. Audio pronunciations for approximately 10,000

primary entries are included, and the CD features a flexible user

interface. The latter makes it possible to open multiple text and

graphic windows simultaneously, scroll up and down text windows, resize

text and graphics windows on screen, and enlarge or reduce

illustrations.
