A compilation of all those artists who have only had one record that has entered the Billboard's Top 40 chart. Included also are brief biographical sketches of the artists, the circumstances surrounding the song, and the highest position it reached in the chart.
A "one-hit wonder" is an artist who has had only one record enter "Billboard's" Top 40 chart, though they may or may not have sustained a successful music career off the charts. One-hit wonders include Carl Perkins, Bo Diddley and Count Basie, as well as The Edsels, Bobby Day and Dante and the Evergreens. In total, 625 one-hit wonders are included in this book. The author includes a biographical sketch of the artist and the circumstances surrounding the song, plus information on the highest position the single reached on "Billboard's Hot 100", the date it reached that position, artist/songwriter credit and original label and record number.
