Compiled by an internationally respected team of editors, this book reviews the literature published in 2001 in the field of Dyslipidaemia. The work is organized into five sections. Lipid Disorders provides an overview of the huge annual output of published material on familial hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia and hyperlipidaemia, and other disorders of lipid metabolism. The second section reviews the recently published results of major Lipid-lowering Trials, and assesses the efficacy of the drugs, their cost-effectiveness, and their effect on other risk factors. Section three is dedicated exclusively to Diabetic Dyslipidaemia, and provides a comprehensive summary of the latest research on macrovascular disease, the various lipid sub-fractions, and each of the principal classes of therapeutic agent, including statins, fibrates, nicotinic acid, etc. The wide-ranging fourth section presents expert commentaries on recent research on Lipids and Atherosclerosis.
