This classic 1962 guide to the King James Bible collects the most famous passages from the Old and New Testaments and arranges them with intervening synopses of all sixty-six Biblical books. Under editor Frances Hazlitt's masterful direction, readers will quickly become fully acquainted with the broad sweep of the Bible and will come to a new, intimate understanding of oft-quoted verses. Intended as a spiritual and literary introduction to the King James Bible, The Concise Bible is an ideal companion for both longtime Bible readers and those newly curious about the Scriptures. Includes a new introduction by Hunter Baker.

Frances Hazlitt, the wife and frequent collaborator of famed economics journalist Henry Hazlitt, passed away in 1991. Before composing The Concise Bible in 1962, Frances Hazlitt worked at Paramount Pictures, where she briefly was supervisor and mentor to political philosopher Ayn Rand. In 1984, she and her husband released an anthology of philosophical texts: The Wisdom of the Stoics: Selections From Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius. Hunter Baker, J.D., Ph.D., is an academic dean and associate professor of political science at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He is the winner of the 2011 Michael Novak Award and has lectured widely on religion and liberty. He cofounded the journal The City and is the author of The System Has a Soul, The End of Secularism, and Political Thought: A Student's Guide. His articles and commentary on religion and society have been published in Christianity Today, National Review, First Things, Touchstone, and numerous other journals and websites. He teaches political science at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
