Although not always life threatening, prostate diseases are often associated with a significant reduction of quality of life. The ever-swelling ranks of men beyond middle age are increasingly reluctant to accept restrictions on their activities as they grow older. Prostate diseases are now acknowledged as an important component of men's health and worthy of proper scrutiny. In this volume the anatomy and physiology of the normal prostate are described.
