This book includes: a pronunciation guide and explanations of how to conjugate verbs; basic conversations concerning veterinary medicine; vocabulary lists for animals, body parts, and diseases; and, chapters on specific animals.
Can you tell a Spanish-speaking client to given the dog three pills a day for ten days? Can you ask how long the cow has had a fever? If you ask such questions, can you understand the answers? After studying the chapters in "Spanish for Veterinarians", you definitely will be able to say "si" to these and other common questions. "Spanish for Veterinarians" is designed to help you rapidly learn a working Spanish for clinical conversations. The presentation of the language is not traditional - explanations are written for veterinarians, not grammarians, so you won't find conditional verbs or terms such as "pluperfect."What you will find are: a pronunciation guide and explanations of how to conjugate verbs; basic conversations concerning veterinary medicine; ample vocabulary lists for animals, body parts, and diseases; cultural discussions on the role of animals in Hispanic American and on how to handle introductions and small talk; vocabulary for obtaining information for the clinical history and the diagnostic exam; chapters on specific animals; and, an English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English dictionary of practical veterinary terms alphabetized together.
This manual is a lively presentation of the Spanish that working vets increasingly need to know.
