Cynthia R. King, PhD, NP, CNL, RN, FAAN, is Professor, Nursing, Queens University of Charlotte and Nurse Scientist, Presbyterian Hospital. She sits on the Program Committee of the Clinical Nurse Leader Association, teaches CNL courses, is a member of the Scientific Subcommittee of Research Advisory Panel (2006-present), and a member of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors (Nebraska Division). Dr. King is the Associate Editor of Oncology Nursing Forum (2004-present). She has published four books and numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and recently launched a new journal, Journal of the Dermatology Nurses Association/JDNA. Dr. King is also a reviewer for Mosby, Lippincott, and Jones & Bartlett on numerous books, and has received a variety of research grants. She has worked as a clinician (staff nurse, CNS, NP), educator/faculty, administrator/ researcher, and runs her own consulting business. Dr. King presents nationally and internationally and has been keynote speaker at several major meetings. At the recent AACN-sponsored CNL Summit she presented on ""Preparing Your Students for the CNL Exam."" Sally Gerard, DNP, CDE, RN, is Assistant Professor and Track Coordinator, Clinical Nurse Leader graduate program, Nursing, Fairfield University. Dr. Gerard has been in nursing for over 25 years with a background in critical care and hospital education. She specialises in diabetes as a Certified Diabetes Educator and is a Certified Critical Care Nurse. Her publications and research focus on diabetes and improvement of patient-related outcomes including five articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Gerard had been involved in a number of academic collaborations with local hospitals to introduce evidence-based practice and improve quality care in the acute setting. She is currently involved in a national partnership of health care improvement practices with The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
