DR ALAN BAKER has spent most of his life on and around the sea. He is a zoology graduate of Victoria University, has published numerous articles on marine life and has taken part in many expeditions around New Zealand, Australia, Antarctica, the Pacific Islands, and South America. A former Director of the National Museum of New Zealand, Alan Baker is currently a marine mammal scientist with the Department of Conservation, Wellington.
