The Birkenbihl-Approach is simple!
The principle of the Birkenbihl-Approach consists of listening to a native speaker of the foreign language while actively reading the word-for-word translation. Mother tongue + text = “active listening”. Through the combination of reading and listening, the brain absorbs the meaning of the words. You repeat the process until you feel you can understand the text in the foreign language. Just a few minutes a day is more than enough!
With “passive listening” our brain builds up new nerve tracks for the sounds – the same principle used by toddlers when they first learn words. This saves a great deal of time because it takes place during your usual daily routine. This way you learn the process through your subconscious!

Sofía Herrera Bustamante was born in Mexico City and received her degree in Translation Studies from the University of Graz, Austria, where she also taught in 2009. The author currently works as Birkenbihl certified language trainer as well as manages a translation office and works as English, German and Spanish interpreter and translator. Her language courses are based on the brain-friendly method of the management trainer and bestselling author Vera F. Birkenbihl – the Birkenbihl approach.
