The Starstruck reading books are all supported by workbooks, containing eight photocopiable worksheets specific to each title, as well as detailed teachers' notes and advice on working with the resources. The worksheet tasks are varied throughout, to allow a degree of progression as they are used.

The Starstruck series is published by Ransom Publishing, a specialist publisher for reluctant readers and struggling readers. This series designed for kids interested in the performing arts. Each book is highly illustrated with both photos and colour illustrations. The text is carefully written to make it easier for reluctant and struggling readers. The first half of the book is non-fiction, followed by a fiction story on the same topic.

Starstruck is ideal for reluctant readers aged 8 to 14 with a reading age of 6 - 7 years.

Stephen Rickard is a writer and publisher, and has written and developed many award-winning books and software titles. He specialises in books that develop reading skills and an enthusiasm for reading in reluctant and struggling readers. His series 321 Go! designed to encourage boys to read was published spring 2010. This is a similar series aimed more specifically at girls.
