The U.S. presidential election 2008 is a defining moment in American history.

This book chronicles some of the political events during the height of the campaign between the two presidential hopefuls, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama. It covers nine month period before the Nov. 4 presidential election. It began in February until August immediately after the two leading parties, the Democratic and Republican Parties, held their conventions to formally announce their designated candidates. Conventions have throughout history served as the parties' opportunity to officially choose who will be its candidate in the race for the White House.

The book is designed to give the readers brief and concise information about the candidates’ abilities to position themselves to run for the highest office in the country. This year’s presidential election is considered one of the most significant elections ever (to be) held in America's political history. If elected in office, Senator Obama would be the first African-American president and Senator McCain would be the oldest president-elect.

With approximately 185-million registered voters nationwide, there are people who remain undecided - they ask: which candidate would make a good president? During their political debate and on the campaign trail the two candidates have tackled issues such as foreign policy, national security, healthcare, housing, immigration, etc. Where do they stand? This question will be answered in this book, based entirely on the candidates' speeches and/or public discourse.
