Index of Wills and Marriage Licenses for Dublin Diocese Up to 1800

An Index of around 40,000 people obtaining judgements from the Diocesan court of Dublin Diocese, Ireland (serving Dublin, Wicklow & parts of Kildare & Meath) for the period up to 1800. It contains names and year of each court judgement, and also an address (for some 8,000), and other personal information (trade or status) for approximately 4,000.

Index of Wills, Marriage Licences and other applications to the Consistorial Court of Dublin Diocese, serving the counties of Dublin, Wicklow and part of Kildare, from 1200 to 1800. Compiled by Dr. J.J. Digges and originally published as an appendix to the 26th Report of the Deputy Keeper of Public Records of Ireland (1895). The CD contains images of the above index of around 40,000 people from the records of the Diocesan court of Dublin Diocese (serving counties Dublin, Wicklow and parts of Kildare and Meath) for the period up to 1800. At this period many of the legal functions which are now the duty of a civil Probate court were performed by the Church of Ireland. This included proving of wills and regulation of marriages for all religious denominations.The index contains names of almost 40,000 people, and the year of the court judgement of each. An address is given for some 8,000 of the people listed, and trade, status or other personal information is provided for approximately 4,000.
