This book is aimed at beginners who would like to learn to play golf, but it also serves as a comprehensive companion to the more experienced golfer. The subjects covered include etiquette and rules, how to play, golfing strategies and course design. Advice and tips from international golfing legend Gary Player are interspersed throughout, and an inspirational section highlights some of the golfing world's greatest moments. As an added bonus, St Andrews in Scotland have provided permission to produce the full Rules of Golf as an appendix to the book. All text has now been fully updated, with new photographs showcasing the very latest techniques and equipment.

The text is written by Chris Whales, assistant editor of South African magazine Complete Golfer, in conjunction with golf champion Gary Player, who has provided much of the source material. Player has won over 150 tournaments worldwide, and is one of only four men to win a Grand Slam (all four Majors). In total he has claimed three US Masters, three British Opens, two PGA Championships and one US Open. The foreword is written by Ernie Els, whose international career includes winning two US Opens and one British Open.
