The Nile Perch is one of the biggest freshwater fish in the world. This guide provides a study of how they can be caught. It focuses on Lake Nasser in Egypt, a place where most of the modern Nile Perch fishing techniques have been developed.
The Nile Perch is a legendary fish, however, it is only since the 1980s that ordinary anglers have been able to fish regularly for this remarkable species, which is one of the biggest freshwater fish in the world. Nile Perch - The Ultimate Guide for Anglers is a comprehensive study of how they can be caught. It concentrates on Lake Nasser in Egypt, an idyllic place where most of the modern Nile Perch fishing techniques have been developed. However, the authors also consider other places in the world where these enormous fish occur and can be captured.

Barrie Rickards is retired Professor of Palaeontology and Biostratigraphy at the University of Cambridge, a Life Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and the author of twenty-nine fishing books. Barrie has visited Lake Nasser fifteen times and the average weight of the Nile Perch he has caught is over 20lb. Tim Baily pioneered Nile Perch safaris to Lake Nasser. With foresight he realised that Lake Nasser offered ordinary anglers the opportunity to enjoy incredible big game fishing in an amazing environment. He set about opening the Lake to visitors and, today his safaris are highly acclaimed. He is Chairman of African Angler Pty Ltd based in Egypt and Australia.
