Dr. Richard Dunn is an educator, author, counselor, researcher, international trainer, and consultant. He created one of the first curricula in America to award an accredited, academic degree in addiction counseling at Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, New York. A Professor of Psychology, he won the State Universities' Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Teaching Excellence Award from the American Association of Community Colleges. International: Dr. Dunn trains European drug counselors for Centro Italiano di Soliderieta in Rome, Italy, and Madrid, Spain. He was a delegate to the first Soviet/American Alcoholism Conference in Moscow, and co-directed a training exchange between Russia and the United States. Publications: Aspetti Spirituili Nel Recupeero Degli Alcisti; Relapse and the Addict; Recadute: Droga E Alcool; What Do We Know About Relapse; Spirituality, Alcoholism and Addiction. Counselor Training: A credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor, he was named Region VI Counselor of the Year in New York. He was ""Counselor to Counselors"" at Veritas Villa and is an honorary graduate of Daytop. He was founding vice-president for the Eastern Region of the International Coalition of Addiction Studies Educators (INCASE). His clinical training was in Jungian Analysis at The Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland, and at the State Research Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois, where he did clinical supervision under the late Dr. O. Hobart Mowrer, a former president of the APA. He completed a Jungian training analysis and has led over 100 training workshops. Academic: His bachelor's degree is from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, his master's is from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, and his doctorate is from the New York Theological Seminary, with a dissertation on ""Relapse Alcoholism and Drug Addiction."" He did graduate work at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, was a Lilly Fellow in Psychology and Religion at the University of Illinois, and holds the certificate in Alcohol Studies from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he later taught on the summer faculty. Previous Professions: Formerly a Presbyterian minister, he held pastorates in Monticello and Chicago, Illinois, and taught in theological seminaries in Chicago and Washington, D.C. He was a television director for NBC in Chicago, and hosted TV talk shows at WCIA in Champaign, Illinois and at WTTW, WMAQ, WCIU, and WGN in Chicago.
