Lazarus was an eminent, internationally known figure in psychology, one of the field's foremost authorities on emotion and stress. He won a Guggenheim Fellowship, was a Professor of psychology for 45 years at the University of California at Berkeley, and authored 13 earlier books. Gretchen Maria Reevy is a Lecturer in Psychology at California State University, East Bay. She has taught Stress and Coping for 11 years.
