Sam Murphy is a freelance journalist and personal training consultant. She has written for The Sunday Times, Independent, Evening Standard and the Guardian, among others. She also writes a regular fitness column and is the author of Run for Life (Kyle Cathie). She is an avid runner and practices yoga, strength training and surfs regularly. Training plans provided by John Brewer, one of the country's most respected sports scientists. He is the director of the Human Performance Centre at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. He is in charge of Team Flora, a group of runners training for the London Marathon, including 35 novice runners.
