Julia de Bierre and James Bain Smith run Castle Workshops, a series of courses on restoration, fine furniture, period painting techniques and decorative effects, based at the Chateau de Lucens in Switzerland. James trained as an artist at the Royal Academy School in London and is also an expert on period and specialist finishes. Julia worked in antiques and interior design before being invited to curate the collection of furniture at the Chateau de Lucens.
