A certain kind of alchemy takes place when you decorate from the heart and style with conviction.
A certain kind of alchemy takes place when you decorate from the heart and style with conviction.

In Expressive Interiors, designer Jo Berryman celebrates a sense of adventure and self-expression in decoration. Jo opens the door to a selection of her own projects as well as paying tribute to other interiors that embrace authenticity over conventionality, personal connections over material possessions and natural accents over costly works of art. From Margate, England to Ibiza, Spain, Jo and photographer Bénédicte Drummond visit homes that combine glamour with originality and pay homage to a playful spirit in decoration. Expressive Interiors encourages the reader to venture out of their decorative comfort zone and revel in the sense of freedom that ensues. Alongside this captivating visual odyssey, Jo provides a comprehensive sourcing list and a practical guide on realising the fundamentals of her style.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jo Berryman began her career as a stylist at Elle UK. She launched a lifestyle and fashion emporium in 2006 and her interior design business Jo Berryman Studio in 2009. Jo’s distinctive yet luxurious interiors are polished yet family friendly, with a dash of rock ‘n’ roll. Her portfolio includes residential and commercial projects in the UK and USA. Jo’s interiors tell their own stories and she believes that, beyond the physical pieces that occupy a space, feeling and meaning must also take root, making a room not just a place to be, but somewhere to belong. Jo's work has featured in Vogue, The Times Magazine and Elle Decoration and her clients include sporting legends and Oscar winners. Jo lives in Somerset, England. Her life revolves around family, design, art, community and land regeneration.
