Simon Dubnow (also spelled Dubnov) was a preeminent Jewish historian, writer, and activist born on September 10, 1860, in Mstislavl, in the Russian Empire (now in Belarus), and tragically murdered on December 8, 1941, in Riga, Latvia during the Holocaust.
