There is so much on the psychology of humans that it is improbable to touch on it all. We can attempt to generalize and it would do a disservice to each individual. These books in The Ant Matrix Series are about getting our minds to zero. Maybe they find it here in this book, The Umbrella Analysis. Diving deep into self-confidence, defenses, misunderstood intent, vanity, and so much more.

I was born into poverty. As were my parents before me, their parents before them, and so on. Not just poverty in the monetary sense. People who were poor in philosophy too. My father was a self-destructive, critical person, with very low self-esteem, and a drinking problem. My mother overdosed on prescription medication when I was young. Later my brothers shared of the horrible abuse she endured. Knowing my experience with my father, I know what she went through. She survived and spent the rest of her life institutionalized. I didn't see her until many years later. When I did, it was difficult to form a relationship. My father eventually remarried. Bringing along with it an extended family and a new set of confidence killing problems. I was living in the sub-level of human existence. My frustration and embarrassment were more than any child should endure. We may seem defenseless to stop that cycle of life. That is not true. I know, because I eventually did. Working hard to fill in the blanks. There are missteps in genetics, early psychological development and teachings of poor philosophy that had to be overcome. I have great admiration for those who even when faced with difficulties. There may have been reasons, but they didn't make excuses. Finding strength in virtues, values, and moral guidance. A parent's job is to develop young minds. When they fail, it complicates things. I lived a life surrounded continuously by poor decisions and addiction. I know the mental and physical torment they create. When I finally understood and focused on the right things for myself, a lot of my past didn't matter anymore. It couldn't. Excuses would have prevented the change that needed to occur. I feel for those children raised in negative environments. It doesn't teach them the basic foundation of values that provide sound thinking and instill confidence. Values that are necessary when met with challenges. That we can all have dreams. If we have a good start already, they will seem achievable. For those that don't, they will have a more complex path of uncovering what beliefs have conditioned their mind. My choices? Either a life of alcoholism or insanity. I maintained hope there was something else, that neither was my destiny. I developed a 'good enough' philosophy to end up in the middle class. Even though I was out of place. I felt I had arrived. It was where I wanted to be. The life I wanted my children to have. Eventually, discovering if we are only seeking comfort and security, Fear of the loss of those things can be a deterrent to action. Afraid to take risks necessary to further my success. The meaning of life. Sure I know it. We put way too much emphasis on being ourselves. The choice is we can be way more. Who I am is everything you see here in my writings. Humans have proved they can endure failure all of their lives. What if our philosophy is the barrier? I have found hope shining through. It is coming from our younger generations. There is an evolution in the thought process. I hope to do my best to contribute to it. Is it so important to do something of notable significance or be really successful? In appearance, I stand guard over that which is negative, or at least point it out. That I will fall on the sword or fight evil for the sake of humanity. History is full of extremely useful information, instruction, and inspiration. Most of the real thinking has already been done. There is such a need for life to grow. If oppressed, it will continue to seek a path to expand. The good is there, and evil is too. They appear to coexist. As if they need one another. That is not so. It is evil that needs a host. The same as an infection. This is not about saving you and not myself. Why would I do that? Each one of us has the power to save ourselves. What we are going for is 'herd immunity.' The more of us that find the good, the more evil will show itself.
This book is about self-knowledge. The first of four in The Ant Matrix Series. A series that puts forth the questions of moral science. The ethics that, when followed, govern our thoughts and societies. How we interact with ourselves, each other, and the world. The application of values and social reaction to the lack thereof. A prequel to personal development. As humans have evolved, some have not been very graceful in evolving with it. While others have been a victim of poor teachings and philosophy. Following the same path or choosing to search for a better way and getting lost while doing so. We can take many paths in search of who we are. Sometimes seeking motivation. Only to have brief moments or a few days of inspiration. Eventually finding ourselves back to the point we started and maybe an inch closer to where we want to be. Rarely moving us along fast enough to keep pace with age and time. Motivation is vital to bring us where we need to go. Knowledge of what actually does, is more important. Values, when internalized and used as standard for living, move us along in harmony with our environment. We will find a common theme in all that has proved success. Also, one that keeps something from it. In the Umbrella Analysis, we will dive deep in those things that keep us from it.

The Umbrella Analysis

An inherent part of life is to become something. If we do not, then we will live in conflict with it. Our soul, subconscious mind, conscious mind, and environment we live in will be unorganized. The Umbrella Analysis of ourselves is to evaluate and find the beliefs that will free us. Values that provide a solid foundation for us to build a life upon. Virtues that reinforce we have found the right answers to living. A confidence in our ability, judgment, and character.

An analysis is a detailed examination of the elements or structure of something. If we look into our thoughts and beliefs. That which we feel is protecting and directing us. What’s keeping us from acting on things we need to? Sometimes acting on things not in our best interest. What keeps some locked in place? Not in sync with what they want? All the while watching others propel themselves forward. Some with what appear relative ease. How is it they can do that?

How do we measure ourselves? Our thoughts and what other people think of us. When we ask ourselves this question. “If I am being myself, would that be enough?” If we are confident, we have a sense of purpose and value. A desire and ambition toward fulfillment. With low confidence, our measure is incomplete, inaccurate, and has no actual basis. We will come up short.

It’s important to take the time to analyze ourselves. If not, how can we get to the heart of who we are? How to develop and grow? Also, what our goals are and what we should aim for? It’s a good idea to know our natural self. Having confidence in our thinking and not a false pretense of it. If not, we will waste time never living a full life. Often, letting others define us.

Have you looked at the why of what you do? Your beliefs and life philosophy. Are they right for the life you imagine? Humans have many thoughts that control their emotions and how they express themselves. Most people are honest and care about what happens to others. When affected by negativity, not grounded in beliefs, life can become out of sorts. We will express ourselves based on random waves of thought and become out of sync with our intended character. This causes us to lose confidence in ourselves and our judgment. We can control our lives, have it go the way we want it, and be less susceptible to outside influence. It’s as simple as what is used to focus our thinking.

Are there roadblocks in our life? If so, what are they? A person or circumstance? Can we move or change them? What would we do then? Replace them with the same type of people or circumstance? The road block is not external. It is our fundamental thinking. If ungrounded, we allow experiences to create our beliefs. They will affect our thoughts and actions. Especially if our beliefs derive from poor philosophy? Changing course takes time to sort through. Requiring outside resources and teachings. Coming to terms with what is true. Searching to understand where we are with our lives, our purpose, and how to fulfill it.

It may be hard for an individual to look at themselves. They may not want to know. Fearful of what they may find. If you have made it this far and haven’t created undoable harm. Good will come from your search. Our thoughts don’t always define us. Millions of them come and go in a millisecond. The big ones direct our focus. Most anxiety comes from a conflict of thought and the decision process. To or not to take action. We can bring our life in balance with the right information and adherence to the disciplines in it.

Not everyone will need to go in depth with analysis. Many people get life, mostly. Having only less complex situations to deal with, requiring slight changes. Some choose to not look at some things. Keeping them tucked away. If they cause continuous difficulty, we should look into it. If not, we suffer a lack of subconscious recognition. A recognition that would be required to change course. Fear and denial create a conscious world that is detached from reality. A genuine look at ourselves is important. One that explains why we do what we do. Acknowledging the beliefs that support it. More complex issues require us to reason with our subconscious before we can move forward in another direction. It sounds complicated. It’s not. Our subconscious believes what we tell it. Even if it’s not true. Misinformation is causing the problem. We believe what we need to believe for a lot of reasons. Our subconscious governs our mind. We take action because of it. Even a statement like “who would know or I am only hurting myself?” We need to address that aspect of ourselves. It is very important for mental stability, emotional balance, functionality, provision, preservation, and relations.

I admit spending too much time analyzing trivial things is not good. We won’t accomplish much if we sit around contemplating life all the time. Personally, I would like to be the carefree type. Unfortunately, I have what I call “a propensity for intensity.” We can think too much before taking action. If it’s the wrong thinking or reliant on knowledge that doesn’t exist in our minds. It’s a waste of time. Ending up right back where we started. Planning and scripting a life that we cannot find much joy in. Frustrated and learning nothing. We find if we have fear-based thinking, it takes many forms. Often confused with belief. It can create reasoning that affects our decision and the actions we do or don’t take. Fear is a feeling and the result of something we are not even sure we believe. More of an unreinforced thought. Often showing itself through a wide range of emotions. If we find beliefs that reinforce our thinking and the actions we are taking, that would move us ahead much quicker. With much less internal and external resistance.

We go back to our early life. At some point, maybe kindergarten. Life became a fight for survival. We sought meaning and who we were. Trying to understand significance or an identity. Finding a place and where we fit in the pecking order. If we didn’t have parental support, our fight was with them, too. We should know, not everyone searches for meaning to the same extent. Some are not searching for purpose. They already have a sense of it. Life for each has its own significance. Some just get it and others are taught it. Then there are those who are taught something entirely different or nothing at all. Our thinking is a by-product of our environment.

Evolution of life is one of the most powerful forces on earth. All life has a will toward survival. If we are not careful, we may never live. We see the tired, worried faces and those in poor conditions. Hoping one day it would be better. If not for them, at least for their children. Oblivious to the fact it could be. If only they would attempt to seek it and take the risk. If we build walls to protect ourselves, the forces that attack them seem to grow stronger. Maybe we do become successful in keeping people out. Even the ones we shouldn’t. The path of negativity will not lead us to what we want from life. It will almost always deter us from pursuing it. Our plan needs to be one of living life. Freeing ourselves from ideas and beliefs founded in fear.

The goal is a calculated mind, free of fear. That which stands guard in our mind is as outdated as those who don’t allow people to progress. There are some who create fear, placing burden upon others, for the reason of their own purpose and security. We accept it as a part of our world and find it wherever we go. We look for ways of self-preservation. Some are just better at it. Others just try to survive. Some rise to the top. You just hope they are the ones you want there and will lead with good intent. Allowing all to prosper. Others will reign over and create a society that becomes less capable. It is an idea that grows tired. A society and the hierarchy. The concept of a lower class, an upper class, and everything in between. Those it works well for have no reason to change it.

Truth in creation and evolution, life can be a fight for survival. Some appear fortunate to find an environment that allows them to flourish. Leaving the environment aside. As humans, it’s obvious our brains are similar. Yet we approach things differently. Even when some can see a better way of thought and action. They don’t or won’t accept it as their own. Life and everything about it is miraculous. The downside is the human anomaly. Some proclaim they have more value than others. There are some who do not use their brains to capacity. We see everywhere how others advance themselves by occupying minds and using what some don’t.

Life on our planet must have gravity, oxygen, light, water, food, a will, and time to survive. With none of those, we wouldn’t exist. These are factors in our environment. There is also the environment we create in our minds. If we are true to ourselves, regardless of the environment. Our survival also depends on the correct belief. The same as it does oxygen, food, or water. We have the gift of life. We are foolish to not make the most of it and seek ways to do so.

We are all free. It is only our minds that take it away. We can allow our freedom to be taken from us. Leaving it to others to provide for us becomes a form of not being free. In discomfort and need, we may become reliant on the provision of others. In history, those who were freed from their captors had become slaves of dependence. They didn’t know how to solve problems and provide security. Their caretakers created rules to get people to conform. The more dependent people become, the more they need others to decide for them. In the world of competition, there are rules and roles...
