The ground beneath us is literally packed with metallic evidence which has been left, lost or deliberately deposited by our forebears. For over fifty years, using various metal detectors with ever increasing performance levels, I have been absolutely fascinated by the opportunities presented to hunt for this metallic record of our history. My life-long quest has led to the unearthing of literally thousands of Roman coins and artefacts, as well as the remains of a Zeppelin and a Dambuster Lancaster bomber being found, not to mention the long, arduous treks through the Jordanian desert looking for evidence of Lawrence of Arabia. Born in Welwyn Garden City back in 1962 I’ve always been fascinated with things historical, so it was a natural progression to becoming a detectorist. After having written and contributed to over (Actually I can’t recall the precise amount) so we’ll just say ‘a fair few’ books over the last few decades, I’ve finally written another one. Over which I have been pondering over for a reasonable old while now wanting to get to a stage in my life where I felt there was enough to tell. The text of this latest literary venture has been jotted down, amended, added to, jotted down again and proofread over the last year or so and has now finally been published under the title of ‘My Detecting Life - Best Jules 50 Years Of Rambling In The Field’
