Deborah Jay was no stranger to the operating theatre. indeed she'd had so many surgeries, she'd lost count. but this one was to be her panacea, finally setting her free from years of pain! But things went wrong, badly wrong; she became one of the tiny group of people who suffer life changing, catastrophic surgical complications. When 'rare' became her 'reality', could she find that inner strength and resilience to enable her to navigate the very rocky road to acceptance, allowing her to survive and thrive once again?
In an emotional, heart-tugging book, Deborah recounts her years-long daily struggle with unseen, invisible forces, which compelled her to adapt to life with a chronic illness. Enlivened by happy moments, despite the daily stresses and strains on her relationships, this frank roller-coaster of a story is ultimately the story of one woman's triumph over 'a type of hell you didn't even know existed...'
Deborah Jay was born and raised in West Wales. She married aged twenty and moved to Plymouth with her Chief Petty Officer husband. The Falklands War started shortly after, meaning that her husband went on a long commission, resulting in her returning home to her beloved Carmarthenshire where she raised their only child. She worked for twenty-five years in Local Government before retiring owing to her declining health. Her life revolves around her family, friends and pet dog. She has always had a love of writing and has penned a few children's books for her beloved grandchildren and nephews which they loved. Sharp Scratch, however, is her first published book, at the grand old age of 62.
