This collection of down to earth, inspirational, poignant, nostalgic and, mostly, rhyming poems, have been written to appeal to all those who have a desire to try to make sense, understand and connect with the past, present and future and to resonate with a reader who has experienced life with its different stages, obstacles, dilemmas and world issues, including the struggles of recent wars.

Written by a psychotherapist who has observed and experienced that often written words can act as a ‘tonic’ to those who find it hard to process feelings with conversational words. Full of rhyming wisdom, warmth and tongue-in-cheek humour and reflections.

Jan Scott qualified as a humanistic psychotherapist in 2001, she went on to gain a post-graduate diploma in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy at The University of East Anglia (UEA) in 2010 and has been working as a psychotherapist for the NHS since 2005. Her poetry has been published in the Bury Free Press and in This England’s Calendar over a 10-year period. Two of her poems were sent from a local Suffolk publisher, along with other poetry contributions to His Majesty the King as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebration. Many of Jan’s poems have also featured on the mental health wellbeing services website for world mental health days. Her passion for self-help through poetry writing has been inspired by her work with clients and of her own experiences in life and through her own healing experience after having a life changing brain haemorrhage in 2020 while working for the NHS during the pandemic.  Her poetry is both reflective, humorous and insightful, providing the reader with a journey through what it’s like to go through the ups and downs of life in all its facets as a human being.  Born in Southend-on-sea, Jan moved to Suffolk in 2008, where she continues to work as a psychotherapist and finds the solace of the countryside and observations of people an inspiration for her poetry writing.  She enjoys times spent with family and friends, writing poetry and exploring the beauty and mystery of Suffolk with it beautiful coastlines.
