It would make me ashamed of myself.#3 I was surprised to see my brother, Speck, outside the cabin. He was bouncing in place, waiting for me to catch up. I followed him around a sharp dogleg that hid the cabin from the road. The car, an old import, had backed into the driveway, its engine idling. I heard people laughing inside the car.#4 I dragged the dog up the drive, across the yard, and up the steps. I lost a shoe, and could not get it back. I was wheezing, croaking, by the time I made it to the door. The dog still wanted to fight somebody, and ran crazily around the cabin.
