After 10 years of running his industrial design business, Greg Gilowey decided he preferred sitting around a fire than at a desk. He packed it in and made his love for beer and braai the new mission. Together with his brother-in-law, Karl Tessendorf, they produced Beer Country, and whatever cool-sounding credentials Karl listed in his bio, Greg has those too. He believes that there’s no such thing as too much fire, and that craft beer is love in a bottle. In 2014, Karl Tessendorf traded writing insurance ads for a cold brew and a pair of tongs and set off to film Beer Country, South Africa’s first TV show dedicated to beer, food and fire. Since then he’s established himself as a recipe developer, food and beer writer, and social media content producer. Together with his brother-in-law, Greg Gilowey, he’s launched Karoo Dust braai spice and the multi-award winning collaboration beer, Moerkoffie Condensed Milk Stout.
