" John Yacenda wrote the first edition of High-Performance Skiing as well as the successful Alpine Skiing: Steps to Success. Both of these books marked a clear departure from conventional skiing instruction by stressing the importance of the ""inside ski"" in ski technique, a concept now fully accepted in the sport. He also writes two syndicated columns, ""Skiing"" and Ski Tips."" Yacenda has been a professional and private ski instructor, and has taught a pre-season conditioning program for racers and other skiers for more than ten years. Yacenda is the CEO and director of the Great Basin Primary Care Association in Carson City, Nevada. He lives in Reno with his wife, Benita. In his leisure time he enjoys cross training, playing guitar and writing music, and traveling and exploring. Tim Ross has been professionally involved in skiing and ski racing for more than 25 years. As the Director of Coaches' Education for U.S. Skiing since 1988, Ross has worked with the best ski coaches and teaching professionals in the country. He has coached at World Cup races, World Junior Championships, and World Alpine Championships. He is also editor of The American Ski Coach, the official journal of the U.S. Ski Coaches Association. Ross lives in Park City, Utah, with his wife, Karin. In his leisure time he enjoys climbing, mountaineering, and mountain biking. "
