Pocket-sized, full-colour guide to Lisbon, ideal for an active short break.
Pocket-sized, full-colour guide to Lisbon, ideal for an active short break
Lisbon Sunflower Walk and Eat pocket guide is designed to add another dimension to your walking holiday in Lisbon.
This pocket-sized full-colour guide to walking in in and around the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon, features 10 walks and 2 excursions. There is one walk in the city centre, five in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and other walks further afield, easily reached by public transport. There are also two excursions – one to the Tagus Estuary Natural Park, the other to the medieval walled town of Óbidos.
Whether you fly out for a weekend or a week, with this book you’ll have in your hand enough walks, excursions, restaurants and recipes to last throughout — so you can choose the most appealing. For each suggested restaurant there is a photograph of the décor and one of their dishes, plus sample menu, price guide, opening times and a recipe for one of their specialities. All recipes have been tried, tested and enjoyed by the authors so we think you’ll enjoy them too!
In Lisbon Sunflower Walk and Eat guide you’ll find:
Detailed, easy-to-follow descriptions of fairly straightforward walks with large-scale maps
Excursions to Tagus Estuary Natural Park and to the medieval walled town of Óbidos.
Recommended restaurants en route serving local dishes with sample menus included
Essential holiday information including planning your trip, logistics on arrival, local markets and specialities, glossary of local food terms and a restaurant mini-vocabulary
Advice on natural local foods suitable for those with food intolerances
Street map of central Lisbon – as well as free downloadable GPS tracks
This is not a city guide, but it doesn’t pretend to be — it’s a walking guide with Lisbon as a base. I really enjoyed using the book and doing the walks. Non-specialist guidebooks like Lonely Planet/Rough Guide don’t give details of any walking routes outside the city, so a book like this is great… (ESS, Amazon)
I spent four entire days in and out of Lisbon with this book as my guide during Easter. (HH, Amazon)

Since 1983 people out walking in sunny climes have been relying on our ‘little blue books’ to follow the trails – and to make friends with other walkers. Sunflower started by exploring the Atlantic Islands, but has branched out: we still love islands – from the Azores to Zakynthos – but we cover many mainland destinations too, like land-locked Switzerland and the coastal Basque Country. All our guides have the familiar mix of car tours, walks and picnics. More recently, we introduced restaurants and recipes in our ‘Walk & Eat’ series, which explores around cities from Stockholm to Avignon.
