Classic Chic discusses the principles of such design in depth, examining architecture and space, shape, colour and texture, and investigating the specific elements of the style, including furniture fabric, details and ornaments. Drawing on inspiration both modern and historical, as well as her own creative understanding, the author distils the very essence of chic. Featuring more than 300 specially commissioned photographs, and a directory of resources and designers, Classic Chic is an essential read for hopeful homeowners, armchair enthusiasts and, of course, hands on designers.
As a journalist, Suzanne Trocme has written for publications such as The New York Times magazine, Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Vogue, the Saturday Telegraph, and Wallpaper magazine, where she spent five years as Architecture and Design Editor. An author, she has written ten books, together translated into twelve languages, including the award-winning Influential Interiors, Classic Chic, Attention to Detail and Hot Homes. Trocme holds a curatorial position with the London Design Festival, where she commissions pieces from international and local designers for exhibition throughout the Capital. A furniture and product designer with a large portfolio of designs, Trocme is a recipient of the Gold Award at Chicago's NeoCon for her debut collection, an American Good Design Award and a Best Chair 2009 at the Guggenheim in New York for her celebrated Allee chair. Her own furniture can be seen in residential and commercial interiors the world over. Trocme is committed to supporting democratic design and consults with many of the world's top design firms, encouraging all aspects of design and bringing young designers to light. Married to artist Paul Verburg, Suzanne lives in London and has four sons.
