The Butterflies of Uganda
There are well over 1200 butterfly species on the Uganda list, roughly double the number for the whole of South Africa. This introductory guide has 338 photographs showing 238 species, mostly the more common ones that are likely to be encountered in the popular visitor sites. All the photographs were taken in the natural habitats of forest and savanna, in 2016 and 2017.
We hope that we can encourage more people to become aware of the butterflies when they come to Uganda. If you are already a butterfly enthusiast you will not be disappointed.
