Français // FYROM downtown est le point d'orgue d'un reportage photographique effectué dans l'ancienne Yougoslavie, plus précisément en République de Macédoine. Il est structuré en quatre sections, consacrées aux villes de Tetovo, Kumanovo, Veles et Skopje. En s'écartant volontairement des sites pittoresques ou touristiques, qu'ils soient naturels ou à fort potentiel architectural, FYROM downtown présente une Macédoine urbaine inattendue et surprenante, révélée par un regard singulier qui s'aventure notamment au coeur de lieux étranges, vides ou abandonnés. Les espaces du réel, pourtant empreints du quotidien, sont ici transformés en vecteurs d'abstraction : les éléments, lignes et textures issus de la matière physique acquièrent un sens nouveau et constituent des représentations graphiques au sens esthétique insoupçonné. Les associations de photographies, qui composent des facettes urbaines inédites, participent à l'interrogation du monde tangible. La délicate imbrication de ces visions fragmentées recompose une Macédoine sans fard, brute et authentique. English // FYROM downtown is the culmination of a photographic journey made in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). It is structured in four sections, dedicated to the cities of Tetovo, Kumanovo, Veles and Skopje. By voluntarily moving away from picturesque or tourist sites, whether natural or with high architectural potential, FYROM downtown presents an unexpected and surprising urban Macedonia, revealed by a singular look that ventures particularly into the heart of strange, empty or abandoned places. The spaces of reality, yet full of everyday life, are here transformed into axis of abstraction: the elements, lines and textures stemming from physical matter acquire a new meaning and establish graphic representations of an unsuspected aesthetic sense. The combinations of photographs, which compose unprecedented urban facets, participate in the interrogation of the tangible world. The delicate interweaving of these fragmented visions reconstructs a raw and authentic Macedonia.

Français // Clive Kodrii est photographe. Son travail, qui se concentre sur le rapport entre le temps et la matière, exprime sa sensibilité sur l'éphémérité et la pérennité des choses, ainsi que sur les complexes imbrications entre l'Homme, la création industrielle (les machines, les flux de marchandises) et la Nature. En développant le thème de l'accumulation (non maîtrisée) du temps, et donc ceux de l'altération, de la destruction et du vide, Clive Kodrii s'attache à conférer un nouveau sens aux éléments frappés par l'abandon, en les représentant sous un aspect singulier et insoupçonné. Ainsi, pour l'objet matériel, l'abandon n'est pas un facteur de capitulation mais un précieux passage : toute forme de délaissement est considérée comme une étape charnière entre une première partie de vie, dynamique et utile, et une deuxième, en apparence statique et vaine. En révélant l'intime beauté qui émane des objets jadis intégrés à un processus de fabrication ou qui ne sont plus en interaction directe avec la société, Clive Kodrii dévoile une esthétique post-industrielle cachée, une représentation radicale et secrète de l'identité matérielle. His work, which focuses on the relationship between time and matter, expresses his sensitivity to the ephemerality and perenniality of things, and also to the complex interrelationships between mankind, industrial creation (machines, flows of goods) and Nature. In developing the theme of the (uncontrolled) accumulation of time, and thus those of alteration, destruction and emptiness, Clive Kodrii endeavors to give new meaning to elements struck by abandonment, and represent them through a singular and unsuspected aspect. Thus, for the material object, abandonment is not a factor of capitulation, but a precious passage: each form of renunciation is considered as a pivotal stage between a first, dynamic and useful part of life, and a second one, apparently static and vain.
