Once upon a time, there lived a princess named Jacqueline. The royal knights protected her from danger — even if there wasn't any!
When Jacqueline climbs the beanstalk, she meets a giant who is just as afraid of the knights. In this modern retelling of a classic fairy tale, Jacqueline shows everyone that there's nothing to be afraid of after all.
Includes a Note to Parents and Caregivers with worry-busting strategies and calming tools.
From the Note to Parents and Caregivers
So how can we manage worries? Did you notice we used the word “manage”? That’s because humans are wired to experience worry, so aiming for zero just isn’t realistic. But keeping worry to a level where it doesn’t get in the way of everyday life is very realistic.
Here are some strategies to try. Keep as many of them as possible in your worry busting backpack so you’ll be ready to help your child when worries arise!
Explain that everyone worries.
Examine body cues.
Calm physical sensations.
Shift attention.
Work on problem solving.
Think differently.
Face fears.
Avoid giving excessive reassurance.
Reduce other stresses.
Take care of yourself.
Seek support.
