This profile has been specially designed to equip nurses to meet the challenges of a changing workplace. It should help them to meet registration requirements, to compile a portfolio of their achievements for general accreditation, as well as review their career development for the future.
This profile has been specially designed to equip nurses to meet the challenges of a changing workplace. At the professional level, it should help them to meet registration requirements and to compile a portfolio of their achievements for general accreditation. At the personal level, it offers a method of reviewing their career development and of planning systematically for the future. The profile should help nurses to: make a structured plan for the development of their career; maintain a comprehensive record of their continuing education for the purpose of professional re-registration; develop a portfolio of prior learning to gain credits towards academic qualifications; and prepare a job application, including writing a CV. Part one of the publication takes the nurse through a stage-by-stage approach to planning their career. Part two helps the nurse to record his or her past achievements and develop awareness of continuing education opportunities. The third part shows the nurse how to develop a CV and prepare for a job interview.
This profile is interactive - it contains three types of self-completion activit including: factsheets for recording the factual details of the nurses career and participation in continuing education; "actionpoints" for developing insights into character and development needs; and "targetlists" for making a commitment to action and to review regularly. The activities are linked with a exploratory text written by Kevin Teasdle, a nurse teacher with a wide experience in career develoment, continuing education and interview training. Each page has been specifically designed with two colours to enable the nurse to complete these activities with ease. The ring binder format means that additional informaion can be hole punched and added to enable the nurses' profile to develop as their career develops.
