No Way Back! Johannesburg to London in an Imp is the epic tale of two intrepid men, Terrence Tracey and his co-driver Geoff Biermann, who set off from Johannesburg in a fifty year old Imp to attend a birthday party. The party was for their car. The venue was 14,000 kms away. On the driveway, at the start of the trip, they made the alarming discovery that they could not engage reverse gear - there literally was, No Way Back(wards). Terence and Geoff's desperate attempt to join the 50th birthday celebrations of the classic car (before the last of the cake was eaten) is beautifully brought to life in this great book. Terence's hilarious writing is abundantly illustrated throughout with full-colour photography, taking the reader with him every metre of the way. A must for all Imp enthusiasts, car lovers and adventure seekers everywhere.

Terence Tracey is the youngest of seventeen children from an Irish-Catholic family. On completing school, he entered the hospitality trade as a trainee hotel manager, in the world-famous Towers Hotel in County Kerry, Ireland. He then worked in catering establishments in Paris, where he also took up photography and writing poetry. He moved to South Africa in the early eighties where he worked for the hotel chains Southern Suns and Sun International for ten years before starting his own restaurant in Johannesburg. A few years later, he joined the First National Bank group, retiring at age fifty to return to the restaurant industry. As a child, Terence was completely un-academic and even quite a disruptive pupil for the most part but, remarkably, he does recall his teachers complimenting his writing ability. He always had a keen interest in cars and enjoyed many successes competing in historic racing events in South Africa. Terence lives with his wife and three children in Randburg, South Africa.
