The emphasis is on soft furnishings but general advice on interior decor is also included and four rooms are used to illustrate the ideas offered - living room, dining room, bedroom and kitchen. Section 1 explains the general principles of colour co-ordination, choosing fabrics and trimmings and creating a style, interwoven with ideas on the renovation and recycling of existing furnishings. It includes "before and after" sketches of the four rooms. Section 2 gives detailed step-by-step instructions on the making of blinds, curtains, cushions, table and bed linen and chair covers, as well as different types of edgings and trimmings. The text contains many professional hints and short-cuts designed to help the reader save time and money. The author is an haute couture designer who has published a number of books on fabrics, clothes and style, including "The Liberty Book".
