The Entrepreneur's Course is a unique perspective on successful entrepreneurship. Neil Francis, the CEO who became a golf caddie, uses his unique combination of experiences as CEO, stroke survivor, serial entrepreneur and caddie to provide inspiring insights from the fairway and the boardroom to aspiring entrepreneurs, leaders, mentors and coaches.
If you want to be, or are already an entrepreneur, you need passion, creativity, spontaneity and bags of energy if you are to have any chance of success. These are a given. Nearly 50% of all start-up companies fail within 36 months. You also need to have some idea about how to run a business, how to do marketing, how to do sales, how to understand a balance sheet, how to do a cash flow forecast. But understanding the `how to' questions is not in itself enough. The crucial questions that determine success or failure are not the how questions but the why questions.
The Entrepreneurship Course tackles the whys head on:
why having a calling' for entrepreneurship is crucial;
why you need to learn how to steal;
why you should invest in a mirror;
why you feel lonely.
A successful entrepreneur must discover the answers to the fundamental why questions outlined in this book. Francis's unique insights are derived from conversations with a variety of often brilliant people from a broad range of businesses in the US, Europe and Asia. Some of these conversations took place on the golf course where he caddies and others were over lunches with CEOs and entrepreneurs, or at board meetings with leaders of innovative businesses, or at the coalface where he coaches a variety of successful (and sometimes not so successful) entrepreneurs.
