A heart-stopping tale of one woman's struggle to become a professional racehorse trainer
Following the death of her husband, Jan Hardy is left to look after her two young children alone. When she cannot continue to make a success of the crumbling Welsh farm, she puts it up for auction and moves to Gloucestershire, but can only afford to live in a caravan on the site of her new property until she has built up a clientele and reputation in the world of horse training.
Then Jan discovers that the Welsh Farm is up for sale again at a higher price by none other than Harold Powell, the horse owner and auctioneer who handled the first sale.
Meanwhile Eddie Sullivan makes the gamble of his life: he must ride and win the most important race of the season - the Foxhunters at Aintree. He knows that only Jan Hardy can help him achieve his dream. But her stables are in trouble and Harold Powell is keeping a vengeful eye on Jan's career . . .
