Birger Gieseke has been involved with horses for over 40 years. He is European Champion and German Champion in Western riding. Birger Gieseke is one of the best horse­manship instructors in Germany. His knowledge, his experience, and his skills are the result of an intensive learning process, which was accompanied and supported by internationally renowned horsemen. With his Australian friend and colleague Tony Lander, Birger Gieseke has founded and developed the Interna­tional Horseman Institute and the EQS, Equine Quality System. The “Reit- und Ferienhof Severloh” (Riding and Holiday Farm at Severloh) is an historical property in the famous German heathland which is home to Birger’s professional training centre for riders and horse lovers who want to learn EQS Horsemanship. Most of the study weeks and camps held by the International Horsemans Institute in Germany are run there. www.horse-man.de Tony Lander had no upbringing with horses. Though he desperately wanted one from 3 years old he was not able to achieve this until he was 19 years old. Once he bought a horse, Tony discovered he knew nothing about these scared prey animals, except that they did not do what he wanted. After many years of fumbling around and getting frustrated, annoyed and hurt, Tony met Pat Parelli and his whole life changed. He started to understand horses, found how to build a partnership with them and then Tony was finally able to follow his dream of ‘working’ full time with horses as one of Pat’s top instructors and taught around the world for a number of years. In 2006, Tony and Debbie setup International Horsemans Institute and started a fruitful and extremely beneficial collaboration with Birger, developing their unique Equine Quality System into what it is today.
