Theodore Gordon was a fisherman and writer whose work appeared in Forest and Stream and the Fishing Gazette. His application and adaptation of British fly-tying techniques is thought to have greatly contributed to the development of American dry-fly fishing. He died in 1915 in Neversink, New York. John McDonald was a member of the Board of Editors of Fortune magazine, for which he wrote more than one hundred articles. He also wrote for Sports Illustrated, New York, and many other magazines. He was the author or editor of six books, including The Origins of Angling, Quill Gordon, Strategy in Poker, Business, and War, and The Game of Business. In 1979, he was awarded the Arnold Gingrich Angling Heritage Award "for significant contribution to the literature of angling." He died in Berkshire, Vermont, in 1998. Arnold Gingrich was the cofounder of Esquire magazine. He was also an avid fly fisherman and contributed much to angling literature throughout his lifetime. His body of work includes The Well-Tempered Angler, American Trout Fishing, The Joys of Trout, and The Fishing in Print: A Guided Tour through Five Centuries of Angling Literature. He died in Ridgewood, New Jersey, in 1976. Nick Lyons is the founder of Lyons Press, an avid fly fisher, and the author of many books on fishing, including his famous Spring Creek. He resides in New York, New York. Ed Van Put is a renowned fly fisher as well as the author of The Beaverkill and Trout Fishing in the Catskills. He resides in Livingston Manor, New York by the popular trout fishing stream, Willowemoc Creek.
