A thorough and practical guide to the most successful technique for catching fish. Dry-fly fishing to rising trout is a fun and effective way to catch fish, but 90 percent of what fish eat is below the surface; to catch trout consistently, every angler needs to know how to nymph. Here is an easy introduction to the casts, techniques, flies, and other important aspects of this productive method. Within, author Larry Tullis shares his years of observation and guiding experience as he shows: - how to set up rigs for midges, emergers, and streamers - how fish perccive fly shape, color, and movement - methods to identify hatches and fish accordingly - how to cast in riffles, runs, pools, and seams - patterns, casts, and retrieves for stillwater nymphing from shore or boar - how to choose the best strike indicator for the conditions - mending, high-sticking, "extreme" nymphing, and much more. Nymphing from Top to Bottom covers everything the beginner or expert needs to know in order to get the most from their fishing experience, whether the fish are on the rise or, as is more often the case, they are lying low and fooling dry-fly fishers.

Larry Tullis has been nymphing since the 1970s, and has fished and guided in North and South America on such rivers as the Green, the Delaware, the Madison, the Henry's Fork, Alaska's Copper River, and the Rios Paloma and Simpson. His articles have appeared in Fly Fisherman, Flyfishing, Northwest Fly Fishing, Outdoor Photographer, and Flyfisher. He lives in Taylorsville, Utah.
