Third edition of the most comprehensive guide to Irish golf courses from expensive, well-known courses to affordable little gems. Written from an amateur golfer's perspective, the guide focuses on the energy and excitement of playing each course to give a true representation of the golf experience.
What makes playing a golf course a great experience? Kevin Markham travelled 11,000k in a 20-year-old camper van, walked 3,500km, lost countless balls, and wore out three pairs of golf shoes to find out. He played and rated every 18-hole course - all 350 of them. The result was the most comprehensive, best-researched guide to Irish golf courses from expensive, well-known courses to affordable little gems. Kevin revisited over 170 of these courses to assess new holes, new layouts and other changes. The result is dozens of updated reviews, still focussed on the golf experience, and revised ratings throughout the book. Courses are ranked out of 100, across 8 criteria, such as design, appeal and value for money. This revised guide is for golfing tourists looking for great value courses; golfing societies that want to go beyond their local area; and Irish golfers searching for excellent but unsung courses. Written from an amateur golfer's perspective, the guide focuses on the energy and excitement of playing each course to give a true representation of the golf experience, with all the information necessary to book your round.

Kevin Markham started playing golf at the age of six and has played ever since. After ten years working in London and Dublin, he became a freelance copywriter and began to play a lot more golf, not always for the better. He writes on golf for newspapers and magazines and blogs. His blog is shortlisted for the 2014 Best Sport/Recreation Blog Award. Driving The Green was published in 2014.
