A practical and informative book covering every aspect of you and your baby's first year, written by highly qualified medical experts. It discusses how they look, sleep, weaning, becoming mobile, teething and much more, including how to look after yourself. Your Baby's First Year also incudes an A-Z of common childhood illnesses.
Your Baby's First Year starts on Day 1, explaining what newborn babies are already able to do. Practical instruction is given on subjects such as nappy-changing, bathing, soothing an unsettled baby and ensuring your house is safe. How much sleep your baby is getting and whether they are feeding well are constant preoccupations of new parents and this book cover these fully. In the first twelve months your baby develops at an incredible rate. Parents are faced with new challenges, such as weaning onto solid food and dealing with an increasingly mobile child. The book gives advice on these as well as charting the fascinating milestones. Your new arrival will change the dynamic of your family and your relationship with your partner. The book discusses how to make time for yourselves as a couple, for older children and for yourself. In the final chapter the author looks at infant health. You are shown how to care for your baby when they are unwell and given some instruction in first aid. This is followed by a detailed A - Z of common childhood illnesses. The aim of the author is to ensure parents are informed and supported in the challenges of caring for a new baby. The approach is practical and balanced throughout, backed up where relevant by scientific research, making this a comprehensive and accessible guide to this joyous, busy and unique first year.
