A historical guide of Manchester, taking in every location with a United connection.
Over the years, the history of Manchester United has been well documented. This publication, however, is a Manchester United history book with a difference. It takes you beyond the pages of any previous publication, and indeed, beyond the walls of the club's excellent museum situated within the bowels of Old Trafford itself. It takes you out onto the streets of Manchester and beyond. You will discover the exact location where the original railway workers kicked that first ball in earnest on North Road, Newton Heath. This book follows them from their beginnings at Clayton all the way through to Old Trafford today. Ever wondered what the connection between Manchester United and Bramhall Hall is? Do you know the exact location where the Professional Footballers Association was founded? Where does the first captain of Manchester United to lift a major trophy lie at rest? The answers are to be found in this book, which takes you on the United Tour of Manchester. Who knows what you will discover?

Tom Clare is an exiled Mancunian who now lives in Houston, Texas. He contributes to numerous websites and fanzines, whilst having written Forever A Babe which covered his life in Manchester as a young United supporter at the time of the Busby Babes in the early to late 1950s. Iain McCartney is a lifelong Manchester United supporter, and chairman of Manchester United Writers Association. He is the author of numerous books on the club. He has also run the Manchester United Review Collectors Club for the past twenty-three years, and has possibly the largest private archive of newspaper match reports and articles in the country. He lives in Dumfries, but is an Old Trafford regular.
