The founder of Fungi for the People, he studies and promotes the use of fungi for food, medicine, soil fertility, waste management and environmental remediation and recovery. As well as pioneering several laboratory-free, accessible and inexpensive mushroom culturing techniques, Ja has initiated a variety of projects incorporating native mushroom urban planting, toxic soil remediation, greywater mushroom filtration systems, and the creation of an open-source local mushroom spore bank.
